Texts from a 6 year old
I read that you can set up any apple product to text and facetime without needing a data plan. So I was able to set up Caitlin's iphone (an old one of ours that has no phone/data service) and the old iPad that Alaina uses so they could each text and facetime with no extra cost to us. Score!! This way we could text with them while we are out at various times. Alaina loves being able to send me messages while I am at work. And I love trying to interpret them.
I later learned that Rusty had bought her a toy dog and she was excited to tell me about it.
They are quite funny! She likes to use the predictive text to help form her sentences. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't!

Saturday
Saturday started with taking Caitlin to rehearsal.
Then Alaina and I headed to the Stones River mall. I had some clothes to return so we did that and grabbed some lunch at the food court. She loves going to the mall with me, says she's my mall buddy. Then we went to the Kids Castle and "played". It was 100 degrees outside, so I didn't do much playing. I mostly pushed her on some swings, hid in the shade and melted.

Rope Climb
This girl will do anything for a medal. This her first try at climbing the rope. I think once she learns the technique, she will make it to the top.

First Rehearsal
Caitlin had her first rehearsal. They learned one song and performed it for us at the end. Not bad for one rehearsal.
Caitlin thought she was going to be done early and texted for me to pick her up. When we got there, the director had decided to do a read through of the script and even though Caitlin doesn't have a speaking part, she had to stay for that. Alaina was bored, so we went outside to get some wiggles out, which means cartwheels and round offs.

Sunday
Alaina helped me make the dessert yesterday. She got mad when I tried to help her.
And here's one of Caitlin because she leaves selfies on my phone all the time.
Crawfish Boil
Saturday, we went to a Crawfish Boil on Monteagle Mountain. The girls loved swimming in the little lake there.

The Legend of Pocahontas
These will be the performance dates for her show with ticket prices. FYI - this is not the Disney version of Pocahontas. Also, it is a small theater, so if you want to come, buy a ticket ahead of time. :)
Here is the link to purchase tickets.
Call backs
Last night was Caitlin's callback. She has been sick for the past few days with a sore throat so she's been a anxious wreck around the house. She was so afraid she would have to sing and would sound horrible, she almost didn't even go to the callback. I knew she would regret it, though, so I suggested we just go and see. The tribe she got a callback for was for dancing anyway, so maybe she wouldn't need to sing.
We got there and had to wait for over thirty minutes before they were ready for her but we did find out pretty quickly that she would only be dancing. She was relieved!
They taught them a tribal type of dance that used a lot more acting than dance moves so she enjoyed it and thought it was a lot of fun. She came out of that audition with a HUGE smile on her face and renewed energy.
When I woke up this morning, this email was waiting . . .
Caitlin is part of the TRIBE, which per the rehearsal schedule means she will be singing and dancing! She is SO excited!!!

Earning money
The girls have chores that they are responsible for, that they don't get paid for, that are just part of being a team player in our family. They don't get an allowance, but they love to have their own money to spend. We decided to make a list of extra chores that they could do, each one having a dollar amount and max number of times each week they could do them. I explained the system to the girls and how much money they could make each week if they did them all. Alaina was SUPER motivated right away and did almost every one that was available to her. Caitlin was motivated once she got approval for what she wanted to buy, blonde highlights.
She wanted me to video her cleaning. :)
Pocahontas Audition
Sunday was Caitlin's first musical audition. It was the first attempt on our own to have a musical number prepared. It was trial and error and a lot of tears preparing. She had a monologue from her school play ready and perfected. Unfortunately, they didn't even have them do a monologue yet. Too bad, cause that's her strength right now.
She also had to learn a dance number there with a big group and perform it for the judges. We were there for 2.5 hours! Alaina was SO bored.
When Caitlin came out, I asked her how she did. She just shook her head. The lady came out with slips of paper with the results. Caitlin didn't get one. We just assumed that meant you didn't make it, so we started to leave. Then someone else who didn't get one asked about it and the lady said that if you didn't get one to wait. Thank goodness someone else asked and we heard that. The lady went back in to the judges/director and came back with Caitlin's slip. She took a deep breath and opened it. She got a callback! We go back Thursday evening for her to do this all over again.
The good thing is she started singing lessons last night. So her voice teacher taught her how to properly warm up and then gave her lots of help with her audition piece. We will see how it goes tomorrow!
First pool visits of the summer
We went to the pool Saturday and Monday.
Doing a cartwheel into the pool
I don't know where she saw this trick (I think it's a straddle press) but she's trying it for the first time.
