Fridays Five

This Fridays Five is Your 5 Favorite Movies.  This is a hard one - I have a lot of favorites.  I'll try and stick to the classics or the ones that I watch over and over.

1-Pride and Prejudice and Sense and Sensibility  (I know it's two movies but I can't pick and they are at least both Jane Austen books, right?)  I cry at the end everytime!!

2-Twister - This movie is a favorite in my family.  We all have our own favortie quotes, I think.

3-Signs - I love this movie.  1-It scared the bejesus out of me when I first watched it and 2-I think it really is a movie about hope and faith and knowing that God really has a plan.

4-National Treasure - it's kind of a modern day Indiana Jones.

5-Anything with Audrey Hepburn or Cary Grant - can you think of anyone in this day and age that is as classy and beautiful as Audrey Hepburn and as smooth and gentlemanly as Cary Grant?  I didn't think so!

So of course I LOVE Charade where they star together.

Some other favorites-
A Knight's Tale
Princess Bride
A Walk to Remember
Robin Hood Prince of Thieves
Dances with Wolves
Sleepless in Seattle

I told you I have a lot of favorites!!

She did it!

She just rolled over for the first time.  Rusty didn't actually see it but found her like this when she was previously on her back.

Just had to share . . .

I think every female has a love-hate relationship with bathing suits.  I hate trying them on but I love it when I find one that fits and I love.  So I thought I would share this great find.  I follow this blog that shows modest but stylish clothing and they had a post about swimwear and a link to Lime Ricki.  They have the cutest, modest bathing suits and since I'm not trying to show everything I got, I had to try them.  So I ordered two, not sure which I liked better, and they came in yesterday.

I tried them on, hoping at least one would look good, and surprisingly, they both fit and looked good.  They seemed to be made with some type of built in slimmer because they made me look skinnier than I am - I am definitely not in bathing suit shape right now and they made me look good.  Worth every penny!!

Photo Collage

As a photographer, of couse, I love a photo collage wall.  I've had this layout for years but haven't updated the pictures in years as well.  So after Alaina was born, I swore to update the pictures with both girls.  I love the way it turned out.  I made all the pics sepia so they would coordinate.

This is my favorite one.  The left side is Rusty with Caitlin as a newborn and the right side was him with Alaina after she was born.  I LOVE it!!

No Swaddle

Friday night, Rusty and I had a date night and went and saw "Date Night".  HILARIOUS movie!!  Anyway, we had a babysitter and we were out late so she put the baby down to bed.  You never know how it's going to go with a babysitter putting the bed down.  Did she feed her enough?  Did she put her down too early?  Did she swaddler her the way she likes?  So we went to sleep that night and hoped for the best.  She slept all night and didn't wake up until about 8:30.  I go in to get her and this is what I found.

She was as happy as could be, not swaddled and wrapped in the blanket her Nana made her.  So since then, we have not swaddled her.  And she has slept just fine.  I guess she's over it!

Loose Tooth

Caitlin has a loose tooth and we figured out why.  Her permanent tooth has already broke through BEHIND the loose tooth.  Poor child already needs braces!!

Friday 5

This weeks "Friday Five" is 5 of your Favorite Restaurants and what do you get there.  Hmm, okay, here we go:

1 - Las Palmas - LOVE IT.  I ALWAYS get queso and chips.  Then I get the veggie #4 (bean burrito covered with queso and sauteed mushrooms and onions.

2 - Ruth's Chris - okay I've only been once, but it was hands down the BEST filet I have ever had!!  I got the filet mignon with a side of steamed broccoli.  YUMMY!!

3 - Ruby Tuesday - I don't know why Ruby Tuesday is never packed.  I love their food.  I usually get the Parmesan Shrimp Pasta but I also love the spinach artichoke dip appetizer, the Ruby mini's, and you can never go wrong with the salad bar.  I will say, however, that the last few times we have gotten take out, they have royally screwed up our order.  So they are now a dine in only option!

4 - Macaroni Grill - I ALWAYS get the Create Your Own Pasta.  Let's face it - I'm picky and a control freak, so this is a good option for me!

5 - McDonald's - I know it's not good for me, but I LOVE IT!!  I love the Big Mac's, Chicken Wraps, Quarter Pounder, Filet O Fish, just about everything on their menu.  Ooh, and I love their biscuits!

Great, now I'm hungry!

What an adorable mess

She's getting better with the cereal but it's still a mess.

This is how she drinks her bottle when she's sleepy.

Resulting in this -

What a blessing she is!!

Anyone need a tax accountant?

I just love ours!  He is seriously worth the money we pay.  I recently got a letter from the IRS saying we owe $1540 for something we left out of our 2008 tax return.  I researched and we had indeed left it out.  I asked our accountant to look at it, though, to make sure.  He agreed we left it out but we didn't owe the whole amount, just $91.  And we left the same childcare expense out of this year's taxes and they owe us $142.  I am SO glad I asked him about it.  Instead of just blindly paying the IRS that money, he saved me that amount and got us a little bit more.  If anyone needs his info, just let me know!!

Easy craft - Babysitter Memo Board

I saw this idea on a craft blog and had to try it out.  All you need is an old frame you are not using and some cardstock.  The glass on the frame becomes the dry erase board and wipes away just as easily.  Decorate the cardstock and text how you want and Voila!

Friday 5's

One of Caitlin's preschool teachers has the funniest blog and she hosts a Friday Fives where each week is a new topic.  This week is Five things you dont know about me so I thought I would join in.  Feel free to do the same.

1.  I'm extremely shy.  I've tried hard to work on this and force myself out of my comfort zone.  I'm not good at meeting new people - it just doesn't come naturally to me.  One thing that has really helped is my business.  Wedding photography FORCES me to not be shy - you just can't be and get all the pictures done.

2.  I almost drowned as a teenager.  I can't swim but I fake it pretty well.  I was at a friend's pool party as a teenager and a couple of guys who didn't know I couldn't swim threw me in the water.  Now the water wasn't that deep, barely over my head.  All a rational person would have had to do was go the bottom and kick off to come right back up.  But I was NOT rational and was kicking and flailing and drowning.  My friend had to tell them that I couldn't swim and they came and saved me.  They felt really bad afterwards.

3.   In middle school, the school said I could skip a grade if I wanted.  I considered it but didn't want to miss being with my friends.  So instead, in the 8th grade, I took 9th grade English and Math.  So when I started High School, I didn't have to take Freshman English and got ahead in my Math classes.

4.  I was at work in a 15th floor building watching as the tornadoes hit downtown Nashville in 1998.  We were all looking out the big windows at the lightning show.  Before we knew it, the funnel cloud was right by the window and we all ran for the stairwell.  While in there, the lights went out and people were screaming.  You could feel the building sway.  It was pretty scary!

5.  I made the game winning out in a softball tournament, sending us to regionals.  I used to play softball and played about every position.  My two favorites were third base and catcher.  As catcher, in the all star tournament, we were down to the last game and last out.  The other team hit the ball and a runner was coming home.  I stood like any good catcher would and blocked home plate with my body.  The throw came home and I caught it just as the runner ran into me.  I held on to the ball and she was out.  The team lifted me up in celebration.  It was awesome!!

Pinboards

Ever since I did Caitlin's pinboards, I've wanted to do them in Alaina's room too.  While I was at Joann's recently, I found the best material to match her room.

So I bought 3 cheap corkboards and got to work.  These are seriously the easiest things to do.  All you do is use a staple gun to fasten the fabric to the back of the corkboards.  Keep it tight and go all the way around.  Then you attach hardware to the backs and hang them on the wall.  Voila!

I LOVE getting pictures like this while I'm at work!!

Makes me smile!!

What's Happening At Our House

4 Months Old

Alaina is 4 months old today.  Here are some things she is doing:
  • Sleeping all night YAY
  • Sucking on her hands, fingers, my arm, etc.  We think she's starting to teethe.
  • Laughs and smiles all the time
  • Watches TV - seriously if she is in a room and a TV is on, she will crane her head so she can stare at it
  • Tries HARD to sit up
Rusty took her to the doctor for her checkup this morning.  Here are the stats:
  • Weight - 15 lbs. 8 oz.   88%
  • Length - 24 inches         63%
  • Head Size -                   78%
The doctor also said we can start feeding her rice cereal a couple times a day.  Funny videos to come, I'm sure!!
