Tuesday night was Alaina's birthday party.  I loved how the decorations and food table turned out.

 

Why is everyone looking at me?

 

She was not sure what to do with the cake.  Like Caitlin and me, she does not like her hands dirty.  So wasn't so into the cake smashing! 

 

   

She did enjoy the new toys, though!

One year old!

Alaina turned one on Tuesday, the 14th.  We had her party that night - thanks to everyone who came.  Alaina wasn't feeling real well that night.  Caitlin had been having a low grade fever for a day or two as well.  At midnight on Tuesday, Alaina woke up with a fever, and at 6:30 when I woke Caitlin up for school, she had one again.  So since Alaina already had a checkup scheduled, I took both girls in to the doctor.

After describing everyone's symptoms and checking ears, noses and throats on both girls, the doctor wanted to test Alaina for flu and Caitlin for strep.  Then Alaina's flu test came back negative, so they tested her for strep too.  Believe me, Alaina did not enjoy ANY of these tests!!  The doctor was surprised Caitlin hadn't complained of a sore throat because her throat was very red.  Caitlin handled the strep test like a PRO!  I HATE strep tests - them sticking that swab down your throat.  It always gags me and I hate it.  Caitlin acted like it didn't ever bother her.  She didn't gag or cough.  The doctor was very impressed and I was floored.  Caitlin said it just ticked a little.  Anyway, Caitlin was positive for strep.  Alaina's came back negative but since she just started having symptoms a day ago and was so young, they wanted to treat her for it as well.  So both girls are on antibiotics and feeling very icky at home.  Alaina took a 4 hour nap this morning and only woke because Rusty was worried about her and woke her up so she didn't sleep all day.

I apologize to anyone at the party who might get sick!!  I had NO idea the girls were contagious and hope no one catches it!!!

St. Kitts

Our last port was St. Kitts, another place that I would move to immediately!  It was spectacular! 

I'm not sure why, but a lot of people carried these little monkeys around with them.  I guess they are pets here?

We didn't have anything planned for this day, so we found a taxi driver, James, who took us on a tour of his homeland.  It was a great way to see the island.

At one of the beaches, the monkeys and mongooses run wild.

We had James drop us off at a Marriott Resort and we hung out there for the rest of the day. 

That was pure paradise!!
