Friday night was a class party thrown by Alaina's 1st grade teacher, Mrs Short. What teacher does that? Seriously, she is amazing!! Alaina had so much playing with her friends. About half of her class was in her Kindergarten class, so it has been great!
Literally one show closed and another began. Sunday was Caitlin's final show and cast party and Monday started rehearsals for the school play, which she has the LEAD in by the way!!
The musical that would never end finally ended. This one was up and down the whole time. At one point, we seriously thought about quitting midstream. Not all the people were nice and it was entirely too time consuming for the part she had but Caitlin did make some good friends, had a crush on a boy (who also had a crush on her), and ended up with a positive overall experience.
We only have one more weekend to get through and Caitlin will have her life back! This musical has been all consuming (for everyone!) and I can't wait to get back to normal!!
I do find it funny that she's had 7 performances so far and hasn't done her tribal makeup the same any time. She always changes it up.
Over the summer, Caitlin and I have had some discussions about what she wants to do in life and how she needs to get there. The college she wants to go to has very high standards and her past school habits would not get her there. With school, she normally starts out a year with missing assignments and low grades. This year, though, she has been a whole new person. She's come home, done her homework, (known what her homework was) and turned it all in on time, on her own! I love it, am so proud of her and really hope she keeps it up!!
The girls had been conniving with each other for a few weeks and we heard them plotting and planning on how to talk us into getting hamsters. They kept trying to call a family meeting but it was at all the wrong times. So Rusty and I discussed it without them and decided to let them do it. Then we called a family meeting. Caitlin started in on all the reasons why hamsters would be a good idea. Rusty just said, "ok." Caitlin keeps going on the reasons. Rusty said, "I said ok." It finally dawned on Caitlin that we were saying yes. These girls were SO happy!
So we ordered some cages and supplies and we went to PetSmart to pick out two Roborovski Dwarf Hamsters. They are super tiny and super cute! And we got sisters so that is awesome. It is really funny too how each of the girl's hamsters has their personality.
This is Junebug, Caitlin's hamster. She is adventurous and daring and loves to climb. She comes out to play a lot.

This is Bella, Alaina's hamster. She is more reserved and nervous. She's not comfortable with us humans yet, a lot like Alaina.
Caitlin's musical opened this weekend. She had 3 shows and was exhausted!

It's a song of mourning and I just love how into it Caitlin gets. In this one she was holding back a little because she had friends in the audience. Opening night, it was so much better but I didn't know it was coming up and wasn't ready to record. :(

And yeah, they got Caitlin's name wrong. Kinda sums up our experience with this theater. Live and learn!
Caitlin's been having fun doing her stage makeup for this musical. She has to be able to do it on her own, so we've gone through a lot of self tanner and face paint. Especially when she had FOUR dress rehearsals!!!!
This little girl wanted her daddy to pull her other front tooth but he couldn't get a good grip. So she went upstairs and wiggled and worked until she was able pull it herself!!
