Mom told me about an audition for a kids TV show that NBC is doing with the Adventure Science Center in Nashville. I told Caitlin about it and instantly she wanted to do it. It was first come first serve, so we knew we had to get there early. Saturday morning, Caitlin had a choir clinic at her school. Alaina and I helped to serve and clean up the lunch for the 80 kids from surrounding schools that came. Then as soon as it was over, we headed to Nashville.
Once they started lining up, we sat in line outside. Yes outside! Thankfully this part of the building was shaded.
Then once they were ready, we got a number and a part for Caitlin to read over.
They said it would take about 3 minutes per kid and we were number 29, so we headed to play. I set my timer for 50 minutes. We came back before the timer went off and they had called our number and skipped us! I guess the went quicker than 3 minutes per kid! Ooops, but they were nice and let us slip in with the next group. Each kid had to say the part in front of a camera (with all the kids and parents there) as if they were hosting a science show. Most of the kids had it memorized but several forgot parts of it and were upset that they didn't do well. One poor girl was even crying after she did her part. The guy in charge tried to explain that it didn't matter what you said but that you showed your personality. Caitlin went shortly after and even though she hadn't memorized it, she was smiling and confident. There were 50 kids there and 10 will get a call back.
After the audition, we played some more. Usually Alaina gets drug along on Caitlin's auditions. This one was by far the best time she had. She wasn't sad at all she came.
