Stacation Day 1

Rusty went on a last minute golf trip so I decided to take some vacation time and be with the girls. I've planned some fun and practical things to get accomplished so we will see how it goes.

Day one-
- Krispy Kreme
- Grocery shopping
- Redbox movies
- Organize the playroom
- Dinner with family
- Shoe shopping

Yeah, I know. Mom of the year!

Before I started organizing the room, every toy in the house was in a huge pile in Caitlins room. It took several hours on several days but it's actually playable now. I threw out 2 bags of trash and have 2 bags of toys to donate.

Alli turns 2

We had fun celebrating with Alli at her birthday party at Jumper's Playhouse.
Caitlin is in the tunnel.

Alaina did not want to play (as it was nap time)!

She did enjoy taking some self portraits.

Rusty consoling Caitlin after hitting her in the head with a ball.  He also clotheslined Alaina earlier that day as well.

Releasing the Butterflies

Lara and Jeff sent Caitlin a butterfly farm for her birthday.  It came with a little can of catepillars and instructions on how to raise them until they turn into a butterfly.  I am proud to say that all of our catepillars made it.  Over the weekend, we released all 5 butterflies into the wild.

Caitlin was a little nervous about putting her hand in to help them out.  She thought they would bite her.

Sisters

When Alaina is in a good mood, the girls love playing!

This Zhu Zhu puppy is great fun for all of us.  Alaina loves to chase it around the house, except when it chases her.

And I don't know why she thinks a dog says "Bok, bok" but it's funny.

Here's another one showing how stubborn she is!
I have to admit, she gets that from me.

Flat Caitlin

I don't think I ever blogged these.  Last year, Caitlin's geography lesson was taught using the Flat Stanley idea.  Each child drew a life size portrait and sent it to someone far away.  When we were in OBX, we gave it to Uncle Jeff, who was on his 2 week R&R and was about to go back to Afghanistan.  These were what he sent us.  We are so glad that "Caitlin" could experience what hard work our soldiers do!

19 months old

and in to everything!

Alaina loves to run around the house.  Her favorite things to do are:
  • unpack any drawer or cabinet
  • sneek up the stairs when you aren't looking
  • steal toothbrushes and "brush" her teeth
  • play with Caitlin's Zhu Zhu puppy
  • eat Animal Crackers

Fishy, fishy

Caitlin is a little fish and I love it!

She now loves to swim in the deep end, which is a leap of faith for me to let her do.  When I take her and Alaina by myself, I am not confident that I could save her if I needed to.  So I started by letting her swim there as long as she stayed close to the sides.  Then as I saw how confident she was and how good she was now at swimming, I let her go all over.  She loves jumping in the deep end and swimming to the sides.  She also loves all the tricks that she can do with Rusty.  I took some videos of all the "tricks."

Why do you be a buger?

Alaina can be in the best mood or the worst mood and you never know what you might get.  It all depends on her sleep.  If she woke up naturally from a good nap - you get happy Alaina.  Otherwise, you get this.

When she is in these moods, the last person she wants around her is happy Caitlin.  Caitlin just loves Alaina and wants to play with her all the time and teach her fun tricks.  Alaina just loves to tease Caitlin.  She will lean in to give her a kiss, Caitlin gets all excited, and Alaina will pull away laughing, or worse - snack her in the face.  She is a buger!  Which is why I thought it funny, when one day, I found this note that Caitlin had written for Alaina.
Alaina, why do you be a buger?  We all want to know!

FINALLY!!

We were at friends house last night and Caitlin was playing.  Something hit her in the mouth and knocked the tooth even more loose.  It was bleeding a little bit and she was freaking out a little but we convinced her she needed to pull it.  She didn't want everyone watching her, so I took her in the bathroom and gave her a paper towel and she did it!!

Snaggle Tooth

This tooth refuses to come out. It is so loose that it sticks out horizontally. I've tried bribing Caitlin to get her to pull it but I honestly think she likes being able to make faces like this -

Happy Birthday Caitlin!!

For Caitlin's party, we did a simple water party.  We had hotdogs, hamburgers, chips and veggies.

She also picked out a little ice cream cake and we gave everyone little mini ice cream cones fron Baskin Robbins.  Yummy!

She loved opening her gifts!!

Here's the surprise gift!

A new bike!  She has seriously outgrown her old one.  When she rode, her legs would hit the handlebars.  And this one has a kickstand - hallelujah!!

After the gifts, it was finally time to go outside and have some fun!

Thank you everyone for helping to make Caitlin's birthday so fun!!
