New Beginnings Color Run

We just had the best New Beginnings (and it was one we planned and executed in 2 weeks).  We had a race as our theme and tied it in with the new mutual theme "Press forward with a steadfastness in Christ".  Plus the girls loved that they could come dressed in casual race clothing.

We did the invitations like a race bib.  I loved how they turned out.

We made it a color run and tied in all the value colors in decorations.
We just used running gear from home and streamers and tissue paper from Dollar Tree.  Very colorful but cheap!
I also had this pennant banner from Target already that fit the colors too.  We put pictures up of the new Beehives and I let my current Beehive class read the back of each that told about each girl.

These were our programs.

Since you always get goodies at the end of a race, we had goodie boxes for each person.
I put stickers on each one to look like those running bumper stickers but these say 1 Nephi 31.20.

But I think the girls' favorite part was at the end, we let them go outside with some color chalk and throw this at each other like they were really at a color run.  They really got into and loved it!  For the powder, we just ground up sidewalk chalk from the Dollar Tree.  It worked perfectly!
Between Dollar Tree for treat boxes, chalk, glow sticks, streamers and tissue paper and Sams for the goodies in the treat boxes, we spent about $80, much lower than what we allocated for it.

First lost tooth

She wiggled this thing for days trying to get it out.

And here she is trying to pull it:

Snowpocolypse

This was last Wednesday on the first snow day.  The girls went out to play with everyone from our street and ended up back at the Greenwoods for cocoa.  We have such great neighbors!!
Then this was Friday!  A TON more snow.  I'm so glad I didn't try and go in to work and was able to work from home.

Head shots

Caitlin needed a new headshot for when she auditions for plays.  I didn't want to get out all my studio stuff so I made her go out in the all the snow and pose for these.  She was freezing!

Silly girls

I don't remember where we were going or why we took these but aren't these girls silly?

And pretty?

Visiting with cousins

Uncle Bryan and his boys came up for a few days after Christmas and the girls loved getting to visit and play some more.
Playing games with Nana.

All the cousins

Ben wanted a picture with all the nieces and nephews but Alaina didn't want to be in.  I was forcing her to and she was struggling.  This picture of the struggle is hilarious!

The actual picture, though.

Christmas

We woke up around 8 on Christmas morning and wondered why we hadn't heard the girls yet.  Normally we can hear them scooting around whispering, wondering what's in all the presents.  This time, though, they were quiet.  Rusty went to find them and found them together in Caitlin's room, just hanging out until we woke up.  Love those girls!!

We always start with stockings first.

Alaina loved her hat and wears it sometimes around the house for fun.

Caitlin got some moldable plastic and had no idea what it was so Rusty pulled up YouTube and showed her how cool it was.

Caitlin got Alaina a high chair for her babies.  She loved it!

In the middle of gifts, Papa Larry called so we all talked to him.

Then resumed with present opening.

Alaina couldn't help but play in the middle of opening.  She loved the dollhouse Santa brought her!!

And she thought the bow on her bootie was hilarious!

Finally Caitlin got some PJs that she liked.

After presents, we made the annual monkey bread for breakfast.

Then that afternoon, we went to Nana's house for family, fun and a few more presents.

Caitlin's been saying she wanted a video camera but I kept telling her that I wasn't buying her one.  Well I happened to mention it to Heather and she was like, "Oh I have an old one that I don't use.  I'll give her that."  These pictures don't do justice to how excited she was when she opened this one.  It was EXACTLY what she wanted and she was totally surprised.

Later we wanted a picture of Andrew and Caitlin doing their weird grumpy faces.  They are the only ones that can contort their mouths like this.

Playing with Aunt Stephanie.
