Happy Birthday Rusty!!

Happy 30th Birthday Rusty!! Last night, we had a surprise birthday party for Rusty at Cozumel's, a local Mexican restaurant. I secretly had arranged the party and to get him there without knowing. He didn't get suspicious until the night before when I got a phone call on my cell and turned down the volume so he couldn't hear. I was doing so good until that point!! Anyway, we had a great time - thank you everyone who came and made it so memorable. Half the people had left, when the waiters at Cozumel's took it upon theirselves to sing to Rusty, make him wear a sombrero and smashed his face with whipped cream. I promise I did not set that up!!! But it was GREAT!!!

Church is a kind of heaven

Saturday, Caitlin got to spend the day with her friend Kaylee (thanks Tina for bailing me out of my babysitting delimma!). She went with them to a baptism. I said, "Caitlin, did you go to a baptism today?" And she said, "Yeah, but I didn't see Jesus." I said, "That's okay - He's in heaven." She said, "But church is a kind of heaven." Caitlin's New Boots

This weekend, Caitlin decided she was a comedian. Every couple of minutes she would say, "Watch this, I'm going to do something funny." Well I got pictures of one of them. She took out the potholders and put them on her feet. She said, "Look at my new boots!"

Caitlin has a blowhole!

Caitlin and I took a bubble bath last night. She loves to pretend she's animals, talk about animals, talk like animals, play with animals, etc. So last night she pretended she was a sea turtle, whe was "swimming" around the tub with half her face in the water. She "swam" up to me and said, "How you doing, tiger?" Where did she pick that up? The funniest thing, though, was when she said she was a humpback whale. Real excited, she said, "Mom, I have a blow hole!" I said, "You do? Where?" She turned around and said, "My booty!"

Caitlin loves quesadillas!!

So I get home from work today and Rusty says, "Caitlin tell mom how you made a quesadilla today." She's going through this phase where she wants to help with everything. It's nice and hard at the same time (because everything takes longer). So I'm thinking that she "helped" Rusty make one for her lunch. NOPE!! Rusty was upstairs watching TV while she was supposed to be napping. She came out and decided she was hungry and wanted a quesadilla. He came downstairs and found her ON OUR BED making a quesadilla. She had out a sharp knife, she had pulled a chair over and climbed up on the counter where we keep them. She had out two tortillas and cheese and cheese was EVERYWHERE!! She has now been taught that she cannot make quesadillas on her own!!

He's coming home!!

I just got a call from Ben, my brother who lives in Idaho. We have been trying to get him and Natalie to move back here for a while now. :) We miss them so much! He called me and asked if I had talked to Heather or mom yet so I knew it was big news. I didn't know if they were pregnant or moving home. Ben said, "I'm coming home!" I don't know if you could tell Ben, but I started crying. I am so happy they are moving home!!!! I know mom is excited to have everyone close again.

Our little fish . . .

We have been trying to take Caitlin to the pool often so she can get used to the water and not be afraid of it. She can now swim with floaties on and doesn't need her fish anymore. The more she sees other kids doing things, the more she wants to do the same.

Caitlin and the Cousins

Pat and Colleen and "the cousins" came to visit on Sunday. Caitlin, Abigail, Emily, Christian and Lauren all played really well together. It was good to see everyone again. We haven't been able to visit in a while even though they are 3 hours away. Anyway, here are some pictures we took while they were here.

Andrew wanted to see the pictured of the ducky that I used to bribe Caitlin. So here they are!!

Three year pictures

Caitlin is such a negotiator. If we ever want her to do something that she doesn't want to do, we strike a deal and she cooperates. Yesterday, I wanted to get some 3 year pictures. She didn't really want to do it, but she wanted me to take some pictures of a rubber ducky, for some odd reason. So I told her if she would let me take some pictures of her, then we could take some of the ducky. She cooperated and we got some good pictures. The first one might be my favorite picture of her in a long time!! I told her to put her hand on her hips. :)

Seashells and Hermit Crabs

We went on a last minute vacation for the Fourth of July. We drove to Alabama and stayed in a condo on Orange Beach. We went with another family and had such a great time!!

Caitlin did so well in the car. We borrowed mom's DVD player and it was a life saver!! The drive there and back was pretty enjoyable.


Caitlin was so excited about going to the beach. She wanted to get seashells and a hermit crab. We were able to find both. Here is the hermit crab we found.


At first Caitlin did NOT like the sand. She freaked when it got on her feet and kept wiping it off on the beach towel.


But she finally realized that it felt good and really got into playing in the sand. She also loved the pool at the condo. We got her an inflatable fish and she would hold on the that and float all over the pool without us needing to be right by her. Now she loves the water!!

Caitlin is 3

Caitlin is three!! She had a great Dora birthday party - thank you everyone that came. She was so excited the whole day waiting for the party.



We had a real Dora adventure and followed the map to the pinata. Rusty had to help bust it though.




Caitlin loved having cupcakes instead of a cake.
