Christmas

We woke up around 8 on Christmas morning and wondered why we hadn't heard the girls yet.  Normally we can hear them scooting around whispering, wondering what's in all the presents.  This time, though, they were quiet.  Rusty went to find them and found them together in Caitlin's room, just hanging out until we woke up.  Love those girls!!

We always start with stockings first.

Alaina loved her hat and wears it sometimes around the house for fun.

Caitlin got some moldable plastic and had no idea what it was so Rusty pulled up YouTube and showed her how cool it was.

Caitlin got Alaina a high chair for her babies.  She loved it!

In the middle of gifts, Papa Larry called so we all talked to him.

Then resumed with present opening.

Alaina couldn't help but play in the middle of opening.  She loved the dollhouse Santa brought her!!

And she thought the bow on her bootie was hilarious!

Finally Caitlin got some PJs that she liked.

After presents, we made the annual monkey bread for breakfast.

Then that afternoon, we went to Nana's house for family, fun and a few more presents.

Caitlin's been saying she wanted a video camera but I kept telling her that I wasn't buying her one.  Well I happened to mention it to Heather and she was like, "Oh I have an old one that I don't use.  I'll give her that."  These pictures don't do justice to how excited she was when she opened this one.  It was EXACTLY what she wanted and she was totally surprised.

Later we wanted a picture of Andrew and Caitlin doing their weird grumpy faces.  They are the only ones that can contort their mouths like this.

Playing with Aunt Stephanie.

Christmas Eve

On the night of Christmas Eve, we always have one present they can open.  Usually they get new PJs and either a book or a movie.

Caitlin got onesie pjs that I knew she would either love or hate.
She hated them and wouldn't even let me get a picture.

Alaina, however, loved hers!

All ready for Christmas!

Christmas Eve shopping

Rusty did the sweetest thing this Christmas.  We don't normally exchange gifts or if we do, it is something small.  This year he told me he wanted to get me something really nice, something I wouldn't normally buy myself, but wasn't sure what to get.  So instead, he gave me money and told me to go splurge on myself.
Alaina and I went on Christmas Eve to the Green Hills mall in full splurge mode.  I shopped for a nice purse and she rode a billion escalators, ate pretzels and candy.  We had a blast shopping.  She never tired or whined about the walking (a small miracle) and we had a great girls day.

Christmas program

Alaina had her Christmas program this morning.  They recited Twas the Night Before Christmas.  I remember doing the exact same program in the exact same way when I was younger.

New tooth

This morning I happened to see Alaina open her mouth wide and noticed an extra tooth in there.  She STILL doesn't really have any loose teeth, but that hasn't stopped a permanent tooth from pushing its way in.

Alaina is 6

Since Alaina had her party Saturday, we saved our gift to her for her actual birthday.  Once I got home from work, we let her open it.  She's been using a hand me down ipad that I got from work years ago and it has stopped functioning well.  When Best Buy had their Kindle Fires on the cheap, we picked one up for her.  She was so happy!!!

Then we let her pick where we went to eat.  She picked Dairy Queen, with the reasoning that we would get dinner AND dessert there.

Even better when they messed up her order and gave her both chocolate AND strawberry sundaes!

Happy Birthday Alaina!
