Spring Break - traveling

The girls and I spent Spring Break visiting with family.  Their Uncle Jeff was in Japan for 6 weeks for work so we went to visit with Aunt Lara and cousins Harrison and Leo.  We took two days to drive out there so it wouldn't be so much in one day.

The girls would do this with the electronics so they could see better.

On Sunday, we drove through snow.  Yes SNOW!!  I thought it was Spring?!?

Luckily it was a pretty drive.

On the way, we passed something that said scenic overlook.  As I passed it, I immediately regretted not stopping.  Luckily, there was a second one.  The girls whined about stopping to look but loved the break to stretch and run.

Finally there, they wasted no time playing with the boys.

Ready for her Gecko

We've been looking on Craigslist for a deal on aquariums big enough for a gecko.  A 10 gallon would work for a baby gecko but for an adult you would need a 20.  We found this almost 30 gallon tank for $40 and bought it immediately!  Now Caitlin just has to save enough money to buy the gecko.
So guess what she wants for birthday presents?  Yup, money for her gecko.

Alaina and School

This girl loves school!  Her teacher sends home "homework" for the kids to practice writing and other skills.  She loves to do it.  And it has to be perfect.  She's my little mini-me.  She will probably stress about school and grades and have panic attacks.  I can relate!

Here's her gifts that she made and gave to Rusty at Donuts with Dad.

Discovery Center

We didn't have any plans on Saturday and Alaina wanted to go to one of her favorite places - Discovery Center.

It is a sad, sad day.  Caitlin has decided she is too old to enjoy Discovery Center anymore.  I did get her to do some art but mostly she and I sat and talked while Alaina played.  It was actually nice - Alaina still got to play and Caitlin and I could have some one-on-one  time.

Then we saw "Einstein".  I said, "Caitlin, look it's Einstein."  She just rolled her eyes and said something about them having the race incorrect.

Skipbo fail

I found this Skipbo app for my phone that I like playing.  Yesterday, I was playing a game and left for a minute and came back.  This was how the app loaded back up.  Uh, I don't think you get that many cards in your hand.

Report Card

Caitlin got her report card.  It's good but not the straight As she wanted.  Each B, though, is just a few points away.  If she just tries a little harder, she can do it!

Baby Violet

Alaina was so excited to get to see the Zurawski's new baby Violet.  Look how big she looks holding the baby!

Her next masterpiece

A bowl of fruit!

Crested Gecko

I took the girls with me Saturday to my guitar lesson.  They played with Krissy's girls while we played and talked.  They had a blast.
Caitlin especially loved Mya's Crested Gecko.  It really was cute and Krissy said it's very low maintenance.  Caitlin now wants one and we are considering it.

Facetime

Sometimes, my favorite part of the workday is getting a surprise facetime call from my Laina Lu.  Love that face!

Katniss

Caitlin has been asking to watch Hunger Games for a little while.  It came on the TV recently so I taped it and we watched it together.  We then went online and watched Catching Fire.  Then last weekend, Mockingjay came out on DVD and we rented it.  She has loved the movies and wanted to draw Katniss.  Here she is -
