Silly Selfies

Alaina's favorite thing to do lately is make silly selfies.  She never wants to just smile.  She wants to contort her face into the weirdest possible shape.

She also likes to pretend to be asleep.

It sure does make us laugh!!

Sick Girls

Both my girls were sick last week.  Alaina had a bad cough and Caitlin had random vomiting, no other symptoms.

So when school was out for weather, I decided to take them to the doctor.
Can't tell they were sick, right?  This was waiting for the doctor.

Alaina was so nervous about being at the doctor.  She wouldn't even get on the scale for the nurse and fought getting her temperature taken.  It was a bad sign of what was to come with the doctor.  While we were waiting, though, she said, "I don't think it's going to be that bad.  I'm not scared anymore."  And when the doctor came in, she cooperated more than I have ever seen!  She sat still when the stethoscope was on her.  She breathed deeply in and out.  She opened her mouth and said Ah.  The only time she squirmed was when the doctor looked in her ears because it tickled.  I was so proud of her!  She got a reward at Publix when we went to get their medicine.  They had a Hello Kitty beanie boo and that's what she wanted for her reward.  They've been inseparable ever since!

Curls

This morning, Alaina wanted to have hair like mine - meaning curly.  She actually sat still the whole time while I curled it.  I didn't even burn her once.  Yay!!

It took us longer than normal . . .

This year, the tree and I have been fighting!  It is a pre lit tree and has lasted for almost 10 years.  But I think it is time to start looking for a new one.  Last year one strand went out.  I just bought a set of lights and replaced it.  This year, several were out.  I tried and tried to figure out what was wrong.  I got bruises and cuts from trying to take the tree back apart myself (since Rusty has been out of town).  Then I bought a Light Keeper Pro and was able to get most of them working again.  But now, I think there's a short in a main wire somewhere because randomly the whole tree will turn off.  If I jiggle the cords, I can get it to come back on, but I hear a popping sound.  I'm afraid my tree is going to burn my house down while I'm sleeping.  But at least it's up and decorated!

Caitlin helping with the ornaments, as always.

My new ornaments this year.

And I can't find the bow I normally put at the top, so it's bare.  We even tried to go shopping for an angel or star for the top.  Finally got the girl to decide on one and it was too heavy for the top of our tree.  I give up!

Here's how I decorated the outside -

Just kidding - that's a house in  my neighborhood.  I don't have time for that!!

Discovery Center

We certainly have gotten our money's worth from our Discovery Center membership.  My girls LOVE that place!

Dec 7th, we went and we got to see lots of live animals.

The girls got to decorate and then eat cookies.

Dec 14 - and then on her actual birthday, I asked where she wanted to go.  And even though I suggested Chuck E Cheese, she still picked Discovery Center!  So we went again.
