Gentlemen of the Road - Troy

Kara and I just got back from our trip to Troy, Ohio.  We went for a 2 day festival put on by Mumford & Sons.

The first night was Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros.  Very hippy but I like them.

Marcus came out for a song with them.

We made it back to our hotel about 1am, then crashed to be ready for the next day.

Can you believe people camped out?  No thanks!

First up on Saturday was Bear's Den.  I really like their music!

But man, was it hot!  We had our fans and water spritzers going the whole time!

After Bear's Den, we retreated to the shady hillside, where we could relax and still listen to the other bands.  We listened to Those Darlins, Rubblebucket and Justin Townes Earle this way.

Then when it was time for The Vaccines, Old Crow Medicine Show and Mumford & Sons, we headed back to the stands.  We picked Troy on purpose because we are short and the high school stadium gave us a fighting chance at being able to see.  I'm so glad we picked it.  We could see great and sit comfortably!

During the Vaccines set, it started to POUR but we were prepared!

Old Crow Medicine Show was great live!  Their sound is very folksy and I only like a few of their songs from albums.  But live, they are very different - very lively and entertaining.

They did one song with Winston, one song with Ben and one with Marcus (all from Mumford & Sons) and then Wagon Wheel with all of Mumford & Sons.

Then it was time for Mumford & Sons.  The place definitely filled up by this time.  Their set was AMAZING!  Marcus said there were 27,500 people there and it seemed like every single person was singing every single word the whole time.  It was the best sing along ever!

Singing I'm on Fire (Springsteen cover).

Look at all those people!

The music was amazing.  Here's a link to video of Mumford's set.

And here's some professional pictures taken of the weekend.  I'm pretty sure Kara and I saw this guy taking pictures.  He's got a dream job - complete access to go whereever and take fabulous pictures!
