Mother's Day Tea Party

Yesterday, I took a half day off work to join Caitlin at her Mother's Day Tea party at school.   I loved seeing the goodies she made just for me. 

I love the words to describe me.  Clumsy is dead-on!

While there, I looked around and saw that her friend, Tina, was the only child without a parent or loved one with her. I wanted to see if Caitlin minded if she joined us. So I said, "Caitlin, does Tina have her mom here?" Before I could even tell her my idea she says, "No. Mom we should invite her to sit with us." Love that girl!!

So I adopted Tina for the day.

Mean

The girls are both enjoying mommy having music in the car again.  They both love "Mean" by Taylor Swift.  Since I can't video them rocking out in the car while I'm driving, here's Alaina "singing" it at home.

Tuesday Game

The game was nuts!  Rusty kept the books so I had to watch and chase Alaina at the same time.  Thank you Ben and Stephanie for helping chase her.  The team struggled at this game.  The team we played was in 4th place but we had lost to them before.  They all can hit really well and our team struggled with fielding.  It seemed like the veteran players forgot what they were doing.  Caitlin, who might go a whole game without any action in right center field, had 3-4 plays, only one ball got by her but it was a great hit.  One play was almost spectacular.  She got a slow pop fly ball and stuck her glove out like she knew what she was doing.  It went right in to her glove . . . and then rolled out.  I think she was a little scared of it, but she almost caught it.  I think we are going to have to practice some pop flys now.  Her first at bat, she hit the first pitch and got a double.  It was a great hit!  So Caitlin had one of her best nights ever.  The rest of the team . . . not so much.  Two of the girls stopped playing after several errors.  Really?  I would never let my child just quit on her team and leave them to fend for themselves.  Caitlin ended up having to play all of center field by herself and people were moved around and had to play positions they weren't experienced at.  So yeah, we lost 16-4 and are now tied for 2nd place.  One more game to go before the tournament starts.

Spirit Week

This week is spirit week at Caitlin's school.  Each day, they have a theme for what they wear and it ends with Friday, the night of Spring Fling.  Yesterday was Cowboy/Cowgirl day.  That one was easy since Caitlin loves her horses.  We had that one covered.

Today, was duct tape day.  What?  Yes, duct tape day!  So Rusty decorated an existing shirt to make a duct tape outfit.

Tomorrow is Fashion Disaster Day.  Stay tuned . . . that one should be fun!

 I have lived without a radio for I don't know how long!

The amp in my car went out probably 6-8 months ago.  I took it to the dealership and they said it would cost $1000 for them to fix it.  They called an after market stereo place and said that they could probably do it for $500.  I still thought that was a lot of money just to listen to the radio, so I did without it for a long time.  I listened to my iphone, but it just wasn't the same.

So for Mother's Day, I asked for my radio to be fixed and for the isimple that plays your iphone through your stereo.  Rusty has it in his car and I wanted one too.  He took it to Best Buy for me to get everything done.  They started accumulating everything they would need to fix the amp and install the isimple.  It was quickly totalling close to $1000.  Then Rusty had a great idea.  What about just installing a new stereo that was powerful enough it didn't need an amp?  Um, perfect!  He found me one that had the feature to play mp3 players so it did everything I wanted and saved us over $700!!  Love it!

Now, I can listen to Mumford & Sons in full stereo and I LOVE IT!!!!  Traffic is pretty enjoyable now!!

Working out

This weekend, the girls played so well together.  They really love to just be together and do their own thing.  Here they both wanted to work out.

I'm Going There Someday

On Saturday, Caitlin and I went on a primary activity to the Nashville temple.  It was nice to get some alone time with Caitlin and what better place!

Sprinkler

This weekend was so nice.  Saturday, while I cleaned and Alaina napped, Caitlin went out to play.  This is what the girls wanted to do.  I loved watching the pure joy they had running in the sprinkler.  I'm so glad that Caitlin has some nice girls on our street to play with!

Friday's Game

We got another win.  The team played great.  Caitlin struck out once, but hit the ball twice.  The first hit, she was thrown out at first because she was running in super slow motion!  The second time, though, she got a double.  Her base running needs improvement, to say the least.  The ref in the field had to tell her to keep one foot on the base until the ball was hit.  LOL  But her hitting is getting so much better.  The team had such a great lead that the coach switched people around.  The outfielders all got to play infield.  Caitlin played second base for the second time (she got to do this once before when they had a big lead).  She did better this time around, actually covering second base like she was supposed to.  She even got an out.  A ball was hit hard to her left.  She stuck her glove out (closing her eyes) and actually caught it and then threw the girl out at first.  When the game was over, the umpire behind the plate gave her the game ball.  It was a great night!!

This is a good one of her hair curled until the wind blew it to smitherines!  Is that how you spell smitherines?  That's one of those words you might say but never spell.

So sweet!

Itchy, itchy

Caitlin broke out in a rash Saturday night.  It was worse yesterday so I took her to a walk in clinic.  It was just an allergic reaction to something and we got medicine for it. 

This was her yesterday.  This morning she was much worse and miserable with itching.  I hope the medicine starts working soon!!

Piles and piles of laundry

I've gotten so tired of laundry, especially when Caitlin will throw clothes in the dirty clothes just so she doesn't have to put them away.  She'll wear pajamas one night and put them in the dirty clothes.  After multiple times telling her to stop and her not listening, this weekend, she learned to do laundry. 

She had 3 loads.  Rusty, Alaina and I combined had 2!!

She said she enjoyed it.  I hope that keeps up!
