Field Trip at Lucky Ladd Farms

I took a day off work yesterday and went with Caitlin on her field trip.  The whole second grade went to Lucky Ladd Farms, where they got to dig for fossils, go on a hayride, pet and feed animals and, of course,  play.

Caitlin and Tina, the sweetest little girl!

Panning for fossils.

Caitlin LOVED this awesome slide!

Her class.

And the silly picture!

Just can't decide which of these I like best!

Mom, I faceplanted!

This is what Caitlin announcing as she came in the door!!

She comes in on her roller blades, no helmet or pads, (a big no-no) and then tells us Paige was riding her bike, pulling her with a rope.  She got going too fast and told Paige to slow down.  Paige stopped and Caitlin ran in to her falling down on the sidewalk.  I'm surprised this is all that happened.  She knows better than not wearing her helmet!!

Chopped Salad

I made this salad on Sunday and it was DELICIOUS!!!
I ate pretty much all of it.  That night.   By myself!!

Here's the original recipe from http://www.espressoandcream.com/:

Ingredients:
*6 to 8 cups chopped romaine lettuce
*2 medium pears, chopped
*1 cup dried cranberries
*1 cup chopped pecans
*8 slices thick-cut bacon, crisp-cooked and crumbled
*4 to 6 oz. feta cheese, crumbled
*Poppy seed Salad Dressing (I like T. Marzetti)
*Balsamic Vinaigrette (I like Newman's Own Light Balsamic Vinaigrette)

On a large platter, combine the lettuce, pears, cranberries, pecans, bacon and feta cheese. Drizzle generously with poppy seed dressing, followed by some of the balsamic vinaigrette. (I would estimate that I used about a cup of dressing: 70 percent poppy seed dressing and 30 percent balsamic vinaigrette) If you prefer your salad to have more dressing, feel free to experiment with the combination.

Here's what I actually did:
Ingredients:

*6 to 8 cups chopped romaine lettuce
*2 apples, one red and one green, chopped
*1 cup chopped pecans
*real bacon bits
*Poppy seed Salad Dressing
*Balsamic Vinaigrette
On a large platter, combine the lettuce, apples, pecans and bacon. Separately combine half poppy seed and half vinaigrette dressing and mix.  Drizzle over salad and toss.

YUM!!

First loss

Last night was cold and rainy.  Did they cancel Caitlin's game?  Nope!
I think the girls did not want to be there.  There were lots of unforced errors!  No one seemed to remember how to field the ball.  And our hitting was not great.  Usually Caitlin gets at least 3 at bats per game.  Last night, she only had two.  We just didn't bat around like normal.  She got one strikeout and one single to third base but she was thrown out.  It was a decent hit, though.  The other team was just really good at fielding.  The coaches are very happy with how her hitting is improving.  Now we just need to work on her sense of urgency.  She is seriously the slowest person on the team.  Everything in slow motion with her.

Another win!

Caitlin played much better this last game (Friday night).

She loved that Heather, Alli and Nana were able to come out and root her on!

And she got her first hit!  Finally!!  We were so excited for her.
I think she thought she was out.  Either that or she really needs help on base running.  One step at a time!
After she hit in a run, they were up by 10 and the game was over.

Weren't the girls so cute on Sunday?

Baptism pictures

On Saturday, we got Caitlin's hair cut and curled and I took LOTS of pictures of her in her baptism dress.

Here's the cut.  We got some layers put in.  Hopefully this will help with tangles!!

It took FOREVER to curl her hair.  She got really sleepy!

Here's a teaser -

Little Helper

Rusty's neck has been messed up all last week so he finally made an appt at the chiropractor.  I watched Alaina at work while he had his appt.  All she wanted to do was play on my keyboard.
