19 months old

and in to everything!

Alaina loves to run around the house.  Her favorite things to do are:
  • unpack any drawer or cabinet
  • sneek up the stairs when you aren't looking
  • steal toothbrushes and "brush" her teeth
  • play with Caitlin's Zhu Zhu puppy
  • eat Animal Crackers

Fishy, fishy

Caitlin is a little fish and I love it!

She now loves to swim in the deep end, which is a leap of faith for me to let her do.  When I take her and Alaina by myself, I am not confident that I could save her if I needed to.  So I started by letting her swim there as long as she stayed close to the sides.  Then as I saw how confident she was and how good she was now at swimming, I let her go all over.  She loves jumping in the deep end and swimming to the sides.  She also loves all the tricks that she can do with Rusty.  I took some videos of all the "tricks."

Why do you be a buger?

Alaina can be in the best mood or the worst mood and you never know what you might get.  It all depends on her sleep.  If she woke up naturally from a good nap - you get happy Alaina.  Otherwise, you get this.

When she is in these moods, the last person she wants around her is happy Caitlin.  Caitlin just loves Alaina and wants to play with her all the time and teach her fun tricks.  Alaina just loves to tease Caitlin.  She will lean in to give her a kiss, Caitlin gets all excited, and Alaina will pull away laughing, or worse - snack her in the face.  She is a buger!  Which is why I thought it funny, when one day, I found this note that Caitlin had written for Alaina.
Alaina, why do you be a buger?  We all want to know!

FINALLY!!

We were at friends house last night and Caitlin was playing.  Something hit her in the mouth and knocked the tooth even more loose.  It was bleeding a little bit and she was freaking out a little but we convinced her she needed to pull it.  She didn't want everyone watching her, so I took her in the bathroom and gave her a paper towel and she did it!!

Snaggle Tooth

This tooth refuses to come out. It is so loose that it sticks out horizontally. I've tried bribing Caitlin to get her to pull it but I honestly think she likes being able to make faces like this -

Happy Birthday Caitlin!!

For Caitlin's party, we did a simple water party.  We had hotdogs, hamburgers, chips and veggies.

She also picked out a little ice cream cake and we gave everyone little mini ice cream cones fron Baskin Robbins.  Yummy!

She loved opening her gifts!!

Here's the surprise gift!

A new bike!  She has seriously outgrown her old one.  When she rode, her legs would hit the handlebars.  And this one has a kickstand - hallelujah!!

After the gifts, it was finally time to go outside and have some fun!

Thank you everyone for helping to make Caitlin's birthday so fun!!

Just heard . . .

my biopsy showed my thyroid nodule is benign.  They said it is 98% accurate.  I will have yearly checkups to monitor.

Medical Update

Rusty and I met with a Thyroid Surgeon on Tuesday.  I have a long list of symptoms that all seem to point to thyroid issues.  I thought that if we just removed the thyroid and replaced the hormones with medicine, all my ailments could be relieved.  After meeting with the doctor, it seems that the nodules and everything else are not related.  Since they are not related, we decided to do another biopsy to double check the nodule is not cancerous.  I should hear in a few days.  As for my other symptoms, the biggest being sleeping issues and not ever feeling rested, I am starting over.  I am very frustrated and thought my appointment on Tuesday would bring answers.  Instead, I only have more questions.  I'm just hoping I can get answers soon!

100,000 miles

My trusty Hyundai Tucson rolled over to 100,000 miles this morning.  It's been such a good car for me and I love it.  I love even more that it's paid off!!

I've had it over 5 years now so 100,000 miles isn't too bad, especially with driving back and forth from Nashville every day.  I think it should last me at least 2-3 more years.  Then, I think maybe I will get the Hyundai Veracruz.  It seats 7 people.  :)
