Ah summer

We are enjoying the pool already this summer. Two Saturday mornings in a row have been spent there. Alaina is still not too sure about the pool. She did better this Saturday than last Saturday so I'm hoping the more we go, the more she will like it.

Today, Caitlin learned to doggie paddle. She doesn't want to wear floaties anymore so my goal is to have her swimming by the end of the summer.

Sunglasses and Dolls

Alaina is fascinated by sunglasses.  She has a pair that she loves to wear.  She's not great at putting them on yet (still pokes herself in the eye).  But she wants us to put them on her and they she will look at us and lift them up.  She will do this over and over and love it.

Yesterday, Caitlin bought a Liv doll with some money she earned.  It came with a bathing suit, purse and sunglasses.  Alaina was obsessed with getting the sunglasses on her.

When she finally succeeded, she giggled in triumph!

I know this is a ton of pictures, I just can't believe she sat still for this long!!

Mother's Day

I had the best Mother's Day!  Rusty took care of breakfast for everyone and the girls surprised me with not one but TWO gift certificates for pedicures.  I love being pampered!!  Plus for Mother's Day and birthday, I get to buy my Silhouette machine.  I can't wait to do all the craft projects I've been thinking about!!!

I just love my little family.  We laugh and joke and I am so thankful for all of them!  Each one of them is a blessing and I feel they were each sent to me to be in my life.  I love them!!

Spring Fling

Friday, we went to Caitlin's school Spring Fling.  They do this every year and it's a big fundraiser for the school.  This was probably Caitlin's favorite part of the WHOLE thing.  This girl LOVES horses and wants to be a "cowgirl" when she's bigger.

Homemade Lunchables

Caitlin LOVES lunchables and I have spent a small fortune on them in the past.  Every time I buy them, I think, why don't I just make my own.  Well, I finally did.  They actually look yummy.  Maybe I will eat them too for lumch!

Alaina's Hobbies

Alaina has gotten pretty predictable.  If she is left alone, it is pretty easy to know where she is and what she is doing.  She can hear the rattle of the baby gate no matter where she is in the house and she will come running to see if someone Caitlin has left it unlocked.

One of her favorite things is to play with my jewelry.  She will bring me one bracelet at a time or take them all over the house.  I had to move my favorites ones up to the top two drawers so she doesn't lose them.

Another thing she does is go straight to our bathroom for the toothbrushes.  She will grab any toothbrush she can find and "brush" her teeth (ie suck on the toothbrush).  At least she will have good hygiene habits, right?

I LOVE her smile!

I've been trying to teach her LOVE in sign language.  This is what she does. 

Alaina wants to give all of you a hug!

She does this funny face and it makes her so happy.  It is basically showing a HUGE undersbite.  But she can be throwing a complete fit and if we make this face to her, she will stop and make the face and then laugh.

Hallelujah

Rusty had another checkup yesterday.  The doctor said that everything looks good and he can get back to normal things.  HALLELUJAH!!

It has been hard for all of us (including him) for him to be so limited.  We will all be glad to get back to a somewhat normal routine.

A HUGE thank you to Kara for keeping Alaina for us!!  She loves you and Drew and it was so great to know that she was with someone who loved her too!!  We love you guys!!

Feeding herself

This was Alaina's first attempt at feeding herself.  She did great with the fork.  Later, I let her try some pasta salad with a spoon.  That one didn't go so well.

Saying "More" 

I haven't let her feed herself much because she knows no boundaries.  She crams her mouth full to the point of choking.  I can't figure out how to break her of that!
